Who Is Aryan Garg?
Hello 👋
My name is Aryan Garg! I am currently a 3rd-year Ingram Scholar student at Vanderbilt University studying Computer Science, Math, and Public Policy. I grew up in the San Fransisco Bay Area, and have been able to experience firsthand how technology can become a Great Equalizer if used properly; I attribute most of my education to the all-knowing teacher that is the internet. I have been fascinated with Artificial Intelligence since I was a child and with the rapid progress of Large Language Models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT and Claude 3, the future both excites and scares me. I hope to eventually work between the intersection of AI and society, understanding how we can use technology not to create our dystopic future; But instead, give every child in the world a "Pocket Aristotle" in which they can educate themselves and understand the rules and beauty of the universe. Before you can do any of this, however, one must first understand how people around the world actually use technology in the first place.
Outside of volunteering and teaching Kakuma about computers, I love photography, long-distance running, reading, and learning more about the world
What is The Peace For Development Refugees Initiative
The Peace for Development Refugees Initiative (PDRI) is a community-based organization established in March 2016 to address the needs and challenges of refugee communities. PDRI focuses on supporting vulnerable groups, particularly children, youth, and women, through various programs aimed at education, sports, socioeconomic empowerment, and peacebuilding.
PDRI's vision is to foster durable peace through education, sports, and arts, improving the lives of vulnerable individuals under the slogan, "No peace, no bread." Their mission is to create inclusive spaces where people from diverse backgrounds can unite and participate in activities that promote lasting peace and development.
